These terms cover using this website. Drenin is the business name used by Reed Miller, a sole proprietor and independent web designer in California; "I" and "me" mean Reed Miller.
What these cover
These terms are about the website itself. They are not a contract for website design or any other service. A project is covered only by a separate written agreement, with its own scope, price and schedule, that we both sign before work begins.
Prices on this site
The prices shown are for the packages as described: Core at $997 and Growth at $2,497 are fixed prices for the scope listed, Signature starts from $5,000 and is quoted in a written proposal, and optional Core Managed Care is listed at $59 a month but is not currently offered for purchase. Your project's scope and price are set in writing before work starts. A 50% deposit is due before substantial work begins. The 50% balance is invoiced when you approve the final staging version in writing, and your website launches, or its files are handed over, once the balance is received.
Your domain is registered in your name and paid for by you, directly to the registrar, and is not included in any package price. Other outside costs, such as paid stock images, are agreed with you before they are incurred.
Prices and descriptions on this site can change. If they differ from a written agreement we have both signed, the agreement is what counts.
The deposit, refund and cancellation terms are set out in that written agreement, and you receive them in writing before any deposit is taken.
The demonstrations
Every business in this site's demonstrations is fictional, including Wrenfield Plumbing, Ochre & Lime Painting Co., Ribbonwood Landscape Studio, Sablelight, Quillhaven Heating & Air and Brightkeel Electric. Their phone numbers are reserved 555 numbers, and their web addresses end in .example, a domain set aside for examples. The sample sites, which open at drenin-previews.pages.dev, show what each package can look like; they are not client work. The readings in the Clarity demo measure the demo page itself, not any real business.
No promised results
I design and build websites. I do not promise search rankings, calls, leads, sales or revenue, and nothing on this site should be read as a promise of them.
Ownership
Drenin's own content on this website, meaning its design, code, text and the graphics and demonstrations I made, belongs to Reed Miller. Some parts belong to others and are used under their licences: the fonts (Archivo and Newsreader, under the SIL Open Font License) and the stock photographs in the example sites and their screenshots (from Unsplash, under the Unsplash License). You are welcome to link to this site; please do not copy Drenin's design, code or text for your own use without permission.
For a website I build for you, ownership is set out in our written agreement. In short: your own content stays yours; once you have paid in full, the custom work made for your site is assigned to you; my general-purpose code, templates and tools stay mine and are licensed to you for use with your site; third-party fonts, images and code stay under their own licences; and your domain is registered in your name.
Using the site
Please use the site for its purpose: learning about the service and getting in touch. Do not try to disrupt it, gain access to anything not meant to be public, or copy it wholesale.

This site is provided for information. I work to keep it accurate and available, but I cannot promise it will always be online or free of errors.
